Two years ago, THE MOUND BUILDERS first broke ground into Indiana’s underground metal music scene with the release of their 2011 debut, “Strangers in a Strange Land”. The emergence of the self-produced nine-song album not only helped to establish the Lafayette quintet’s growing local presence in the Hoosier state, but also laid the foundation to a sonic monument to all things hard and heavy by hybridizing the sounds of heavy metal, Southern rock, doom, sludge, crust, and groove.

This week, the band will set the next few bricks in place to build onto that monument, as they enter the famed studios at Sonic Iguana of Lafayette to conjure up a new EP of original riffs and rhythms from the riverlands of the American Midwest. This latest recording venture, to be titled “WABASH WAR MACHINE, is being planned for a late 2013 release, and promises to represent a bold step forward in the group’s persistent development of a sound that epitomizes true heartland heaviness. Follow the band over the coming months on their official social media sites (Facebook & Twitter) and for updates and further details.
